I was here last night with a good friend for dinner. My first time here and I loved it. We ordered: Spring rolls - comes with bowl of water so you can wrap the rolls yourself with noodles, beef, chicken, veggies and more! So delicious!!!! I'm gonna order this again. Beef and shrimp over rice noodles - amazing! Fresh beef and shrimp! Sauce was yum and very filling! Curry chicken - it was ok. Not too impressed. Wouldn't order again. Thai iced tea - my favorite! Perfectly sweet! The dinner was delicious and I can't wait to come back. I would say 4 stars for this place. Not perfect, but really good filling food for decent price!

This is one of my favorite places for Vietnamese food in Sac, the ambiance is not of your typical Vietnamese restaurant where it's loud and has a strong fish sauce smell lol. It's really clean here with booth seating and soft music playing. The owner is really nice and attentive and they have great dishes! I usually order the shrimp rolls (they come out huge!) along with a vietnamese iced coffee, and some variety of pho. The food always comes out fresh tasting and delicious. I've taken a lot of a friends here and they've all loved it :-)

A great Pho place when you're in this neck of the woods. Nice big steamy bowls of Pho. We always get the shrimp spring rolls. There's one dish that we ordered where you get to wrap your own spring rolls where you dip your rice paper into the hot water and then you pack it full of meat and vegetables and All kinds of tasty things. I met the owner a few times and she's very friendly and the staff is very friendly too. I wished I lived closer so I could eat here more often.

Great place to eat!!! The staff are so friendly & inviting. The mom is the cutest sweetest lady, & always a joy to talk to. The food is always fresh & delicious, I haven't had one thing that I have not liked. I wish they were closer to my house, I would be here all the time! I highly recommend!!

My soup was ok, but was not happy with the overall experiance! The sevice kinda sucked, it was in a kinda bad part of town. We got the combination appitizer. And the only thing worth eating on it were the imperial rolls!

Is this a Vietnamese restaurant? It looks kinda like a Sambos? I wonder if they serve pancakes? Sambo's had some pretty damned good pancakes. They have a nice size parking lot and the building does look sixties retro diner. Wow, the interior looks sixties retro diner as well. I want to order some pancakes. At least this place feels open and spacious. The courteous waiter immediately seats us and brings us menus and water and takes our drink orders. A few minutes later he returns with our drinks and to takes our orders. In the meantime I have surveyed the menu and found it to be more than a little overpriced compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants I have been. Courteous waiter: May I help you. Me: Do you have any pancakes? Courteous waiter: The closest thing we have is a Vietnamese crepe. Me: I will take one please. (I am being on my best behavior) Me: We would also like some shrimp goi cuon and some barbecued shrimp with vegetable over rice and could we have brown rice in place of fried rice please? The banh xeo is nothing like the pancakes they served at Sambo's but it is a extremely wonderful replacement. The crepe is crisp and delicious. It is listed under vegetarian so it has tofu instead of pork and shrimp but the tofu may be the best tofu I have ever had. My only complaint is that they only give you two pieces of lettuce to wrap it up in. (Of course it comes with dipping sauce rather than syrup.) The goi cuon is good. I love dipping those delicious little rolls in peanut sauce. Unfortunately, they are completely overpriced. I have had them elsewhere for half the price. The barbecued shrimp was delicious and I was glad they had steamed brown rice as an option. Their food is really good, I just wish their prices were not so high.

Pretty much a local institution, I seem to remember it always being here. Soup starter was awesome, but it went down from there. The Imperial Roll was a mess of a big greasy spring roll with pretty bland fillings. I asked for my entree extra spicy, SOME spice would have been nice. Even though it lacked the heat of the spicy dish it was dubbed to be, they could've gotten away with it had the dish had the flavor. Overall, the flavors here are very under developed from what I have come to expect from Vietnamese food here in Sac.

Andy Nguyen's is the best! I've been going there for years. I always get number 6 under the soft rice noodle plate section (bun ga nuong). Fresh ingredients. It's family run. Always consistently good. Jack fruit shake is yummy. We have been coming here for 15 years.

I was in the area around lunch time and was craving egg rolls. Andy Nguyen's was the first on my yelp search... After reading a couple of reviews, I knew where I was heading Interior/Setting I stopped by at lunch time on a Sunday and it was very slow. I did notice how clean the Restraunt was. Food/Service Greeted at the door with a smile. Placed my order for the imperial egg roll appetizer. In a little less then 10 minutes I had my egg rolls. There was only 4 medium sized egg rolls. I was disappointed in the quantity but they made up for it with the quality. The egg roll wrapper was PERFECT. It wasn't the normal wrapper I was excepting. Very crispy and flavorful. Price Price is.... Fair. Imperial Egg Roll was $7.15 for the 4 medium sized rolls. Would have been a better deal with at least one more. Overall I can't wait to try again with the family. 4 stars from me for now... Until next time Mr. Nguyen. ;)

Suuuuuper shady neighborhood but the food is very good. Their fish sauce is not the favorite I have ever had, but the ingredients are quality and they are creative with their seasoning. The Bun Tom and Imperial Rolls are by far my fave!

In the days before Little Saigon became a genuine culinary destination, Vietnamese food in Sacramento usually meant a trip to Andy Nguyen's. I didn't know there were any left, but my wife found one in Rancho Cordova and off we went. It's on a nondescript section of Folsom Blvd, next to a rundown auto shop. Not knowing what to expect, we stepped in and were surprised by a spacious, well-maintained restaurant. We had a very nice pho--similar to the Mai Pham product at Star Ginger, but with tons more beef--and a solid take on wok-fried pork with broccoli. With Pham's Lemon Grass Noodle Bar out of business, we may have found our next go-to Asian lunch spot. Meet the new boss - same as the old boss.

The place itself looks like it is in a very shady area, but the food was great! Had the vegetarian Vietnamese rolls and jasmine tea, service was fast and food was great! Edit/ just got food from another place to try it out, Andy's is way better! I'm going back :)

Holy crap, this place is good! Stopped in for the lunch special. Not only do you get a lot of different items for the money, it is all very flavorful and well-seasoned. Seriously, their mastery of flavor combinations is spot-on. Everything in my lunch combo, from the appetizer (perfectly grilled meat on top of a sweet-sour carrot salad), to the wonton soup, to the brown rice (which I could swear had a touch of coconut milk in it), to the satay sauce - all were perfectly balanced symphonies of flavor. Food like this takes true talent.

My husband and I try to eat here as often as we can. The food is amazing. Neither of us have ever had anything off the menu we did not LOVE! Their spring rolls and Vietnamese Rolls are probably 2 of the best things I have ever eaten. Great lunch or dinner spot!

I was surprisingly pleased with my experience at Andy Nguyen's! I recently bought a Living Social deal for the restaurant so I put it to use when my parents came to visit. The restaurant is very clean and organized, a pleasant change from the outside environment. Our waitress was extremely attentive and sweet. I had the cold vermicelli bowl with imperial rolls and charbroiled pork. It was very good: not too cold and the noodles were not stiff like some other places make them. The imperial rolls and pork were tasty. I also got to try the seafood pho-type of dish, which consisted of udon-like noodles. Again, surprisingly good! I tried some sauteed shrimp and they had an odd brown-color. Although it tasted good, the texture and color seemed off. Portions are perfect and prices are reasonable for the atmosphere and quality of food. Overall I think it's a great place to eat at!

We ordered vegetarian tofu rolls, and a couple vegetarian dishes with rice. The tofu rolls were delicious, but the price seemed steep as it cost the same as the main dishes. Our two vegetarian dishes were just ok, seemed very oily/salty and lacked flavor.

I've been eating here since the 1980s which is when I was first introduced to pho. I absolutely love the rice noodle dishes for a lite lunch. The fresh mint and cilantro make for a refreshing meal. If you are a meat eater and dine here you must try the Imperial Roll off the appetizer menu. It is hands down THE best egg roll you will ever taste anywhere!

This place is a mainstay for me when it comes to Vietnamese food. It is the bench mark against which all others are judged by. The place is clean, the staff friendly, and the food is great and at a good price. I usually get a rice plate with chicken and Imperial rolls, and a Vietnamese coffee. The location is not really convenient to me. But, if I'm in the area close to here, I will definitely stop here for lunch.

This is my second favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Sacramento area. The food is very good, but the prices are a little bit high considering the location and decor. But it beats driving to south Sacramento!

Andy Nguyen's is a mid-scale restaurant (not upscale like say Lemon Grass, but then not a hole-in-the-wall either like your typical Pho restaurant). On that topic, you might have noticed that there ISN'T the ubiquitous "Pho" in their name right? That's because they offer and accomplish a pretty good representation of a heck-o-a lot of general Vietnamese dishes, as opposed to say your typical Pho place. If you didn't know any better, you'd think that Vietnamese people eat nothing but noodles all their lives but in fact all those "Noodle" dishes are generally reserved for special occasions much like your big roasts, your turkey or ham, etc. Andy Nguyen's offerings are more like amped-up basic dinners (as if they were to make spaghetti, meatloaf, casserole, etc.). For instance, take whatever you Caucasians had for dinner last night, while you were having that some Vietnamese was probably making one of the items on Andy Nguyen's menu for their family (non-noodle that is). So now that I've properly calibrated what their menu offering is like, let me just say that eating "commoner" food by these guys (I wouldn't go as far as to say "peasant food"), is like having the Obama's nanny cooking creole for you. You KNOW whatever she's making has got'a be done RIGHT - right? Well it's like that - these guys do it right!! I've gone here (and at their 1st location before that) for years... WAY before Yelp. I'll even go as far as to say that they MAY be the reason I thought I can make it work marrying a NON-Vietnamese girl. It's because I knew deep down that if I had a craving for REALLY good representation of Vietnamese food (I'll even go as far as to say "it's better than my Mom's"... that's because she doesn't know one end of a keyboard from the other) I can always head out of the house and get my fix from Andy Nguyen's (at that time I lived very close to the first one). Like I eluded to earlier, their price point is slightly higher than your run -of-the-mill Pho place, especially if all you want is Pho (that's why I don't eat that here ), but it's nowhere near the price of the other well know Vietnamese place (Lemon Grass in Loehmann's plaza Fair Oaks). But like L.G., I also feel that these guys DO like to take their offerings up a notch, bordering on foo-foo (which I despise) but it's not quite there. For instance I had the "Fish in clay pot" (one of my favorite dinners as a kid) - although we don't' actually cook it at home in a "clay" pot (no shit right? - I can think of one or two Yelp idiots that WOULD think that we do...LOL!) For instance, I use to love eating the belly part of the fish steaks, and even the roe if we were lucky enough to get any. Here, what do they do? They take only the "good" part of the fish... like large bit-site chunks of the fish instead of using whole steak cuts which gives you that belly part. Again, I know why they're doing it... it's just to cater to the Americanized sensibilities. I mean God forbid you have to deal with a little bone while eating FISH!!! Any-who... Regardless of their ill-desire to Americanize my favorite dish, they SOOOO make it up by kicking my Mom's butt in the flavor department...(did I mention to you that she didn't know how to use the computer???). The ginger, the garlic, the perfume of all the other herbs and spices were phenomenal!!! (all for $10.25, WITH rice no less). Oh and if you're squeamish about oil and fat etc. Don't bother getting this dish because it's supposed to have all that oil - in part from what the spices were sautéed in, but also partly from the fish itself... and it goes SOOOO great over white rice. Some guys, in order to re-unite with their wives, get help from the therapists, some guys take it out on the golf-ball, and some guys, like me, go eat what their mommy used to make... Andy Nguyen's cooks are MY mommies... (when my real one's not around that is)!!! Anyways... hope you enjoyed my little flashback into my childhood.

I reeeeally wanted to like this place but based on solely the dish i ordered....so sad!!! As a gluten free foodie in sac i was immensely excited to see a gluten free friendly restaurant but the chow fun was very not tasty. The tofu in the dish was good but that's only because it was fried....everything fried tastes good. Anyways, sad face. Not sure it's worth the trek all the way over to that part of town. It's also pretty pricy for a Vietnamese restaurant.

There's a reason why there's only one listing of Pho on their menu--it's not their forte. That single listing of Pho buried in their Soup section should have tipped me off, but I ordered it anyway and ended up regretting it. The broth was dark and murky, and it only came with rare steak...no tendons or tripe as I usually like. We also ordered two chicken dishes and the chicken in both were dry and tough even though they were cooked in sauce. Their baked salted calamari was good...it was on the spicy side because it was cooked with jalapenos, yum! And I also liked their grilled pork over soft rice noodles dish; their fish sauce was mild and tasty. Service was friendly but a bit inattentive even though it was not busy at all. They're a bit on the pricey side, but it's a compromise for not having to go down to Stockon Blvd.

The Food: The food here is superb, I always order the Vermicelli rice with grilled shrimp, pork and imperial rolls. It is SO good. It is a bit pricey at around $14 a bowl but it is well worth it. I've also had their Pho here, it was so-so. I wouldn't order that again. The Service & Establishment: Service here is alright. Every time I come in the owners are watching Basketball on their TV. I believe they are huge Sacramento Kings fans, HAHA. I don't mind that the TV is on and they are so involved in the game, but sometimes I just want my check or have my water refilled once in a while. The atmosphere here is a bit awkward, it's a HUGE restaurant but it's so quiet and its even more quiet when you are the only patrons in the establishment. They should play some music and if they already do, play it louder because it's a little weird. Also, there is a huge replica of a SHIP in the bathroom. I just thought I'd share. The Weird: So, this place is called "Any Nguyen's." I asked the owner, "Are you Andy?" He responds, "My name is Vinny." He goes on to tell me that there is no Andy. Interesting.

I tried one of the full Vietnamese dinners. It felt a tad on the pricey side, but I got a lot of good food with it, so the value was pretty good. The Imperial rolls were quite good, slightly different than your typical egg roll, and the soup of the day was quite good with lots of leeks (I think). They give you the option of brown rice, which I appreciated, and the pork main dish I got was a very large portion, mild taste but satisfying. I look forward to trying the pho here at some point.

Andy Nguyen's is not much at first glance. The building has a 60's retro look that seemed to conflict with the Vietnamese fare but the establishment was clean and the bright atmosphere made the place inviting. The waiter was very attentive and promptly set us up. I was pleasantly surprised by the selection they offered...and a little intimidated. I'm relatively new to Vietnamese cuisine so I went with the ol standby - Pho. The food came out fast and hot. The pho was good and the service was excellent. My wife and I were able to enjoy each other's company over good food and in a warm atmosphere. I left Andy Nguyen's full and looking forward to the next time I'll be back.

The pho here is amazing, way better than down the street at hoa viet down the street. It costs a little bit more but the quality of the broth is a lot better and you get more meat & noodles. Cashew chicken & fried rice are also really good for the lunch special.

I was feeling under the weather and wanted soup so my bf and I decided to swing by and grab some takeout from Andy Nguyen's. All in all, the food was pretty good. I haven't tried much pho in my life so far but this place was pretty good. The broth was flavorful, and didn't need the Sriracha sauce I put in it, but I likes my food spicy. The soup came with a separate container of noodles (I chose rice noodles), two shrimp, crab claw, and a few slices of tender pork, plus fresh cilantro, bean sprouts, and jalapeño. My bf enjoyed his soup, which had spiced duck and black mushroom. Neither of us really cared for the calamari with sweet n' sour. It wasn't bad, but we wouldn't order it again. Just a matter of taste preference I think. The imperial egg rolls were just ok. I'd come here again for more pho.

I have never tried this place for dinner but was not really impressed with the lunch my wife and I had there. The service and food was only so-so. The portions were over priced and tiny. Now I am the first to admit that the restaurant is very nice inside and would be nice to take a date to. We eat a lot of Vietnamese food I guess I just expected more after reading all the good reviews on here. For my money I would drive to Stockton Blvd or just go to Sunny Restaurant just a little east on Folsom. Not very fancy but good food at a whole lot less.

I work near Folsom Blvd. and good lord there is some terrible food in this section of town. So far I've had only one near death experience as a result of eating on Folsom Blvd. so I keep to what I know is good to avoid a second. Andy Nguyens II is by far the best and most consistent food in the area. The menu is large, with many dishes quite similar although very good. Lots of rice and soft rice noodle dishes, often with lemon grass in them. For a quick cheap lunch this place never disappoints. Also good for vegetarians.

As someone who grew up on Vietnamese food, I was torn about going to Andy Nguyen's. On the one hand, I wanted to support people such as the owners of Andy Nguyen's who are bringing Vietnamese food out of the Vietnamese ethnic enclaves (the Little Saigons of the world) and into the mainstream - there's so much more to Vietnamese food than just pho. On the other hand, I'm always skeptical of Vietnamese restaurants located outside of the Vietnamese community as on the whole the tend to inflate prices and compromise on authenticity to cater to the Western palate. I came to Andy Nguyen's for lunch with a friend one random Friday not expecting much, but it was a convenient meeting place for us. Looking at the menu confirmed to me that this place was indeed more expensive than a typical Vietnamese restaurant in the ethnic enclave, but not excessively so. Nothing on the menu jumped out at me and so I asked my waiter what their signature dish was. He recommended that I ordered the bún thit nuong cha giò (rice noodles with grilled pork and egg roll - number 3 on the menu under the noodles section). And so I did. When he brought out my bowl of noodles, I remained skeptical but was actually blown away when I bit into the grilled pork. The sheer flavor and deliciousness of it all took me by surprise - the grilled pork was actually more delicious than any I've had in the "typical" Vietnamese places you find in the ethnic enclaves. I tried some of the eggroll and that was wonderfully delicious as well. It's also worth mentioning though that their egrolls are not the kind that you'd usually find at a regular Vietnamese restaurant. Typically those are wrapped in a flour based paper, but these were made in the traditional Northern Vietnamese style, with rice paper. The filling was also particularly delicious. Their fish sauce is a bit salty for my taste, but it wasn't inauthentic by any means. I was beyond impressed. I'd definitely come back if I were ever in the area again. For a place that catered to a mainstream customer base, they refused to compromise on the wonders of Vietnamese culture and flavors, and for that I wish them all the success in the world.

I refuse to eat Vietnamese food if its not Andy Nguyen's. I can't find better springrolls or barbequed items anywhere else. The menu is huge and has a whole seperate vegetarian section. They have great pho, rice plates, seafood clay pot, and noodle salads. The owner lady couldn't be any friendlier and all the servers are so nice. The biggest plus to this place is that its so clean. It doesn't look or smell like fish sauce and even the bathroom was nice. Why eat at other loud and dirty Vietnamese restaurants that has cockroaches, mean ladies, and sticky tables that your hands get stuck onto? I don't even live in Rancho Cordova, but my family drives half an hour to eat here all the time. We're definitely a fan. If it wasn't so far, I really would eat here every day.

The food here is a four star but the prices are a bit steep for Vietnamese food and the service wasn't spectacular. I will however stop by once in a while because it's conveniently located near my new place. I ordered a lunch special chicken curry which came with a cup of soup and small daikon salad. The curry was good but not better than what I can make. Just saying. LOL! They can lower their prices just a tad.

We decided to have dinner here one Thurs evening. This restaurant is usually busy for lunch. But Folsom Blvd. gets pretty sparse on traffic during evening hours and weekends. We thought this would be a good time to try this place out, since there was only another couple dining. The dining area looked well maintained and spacious. We were seated immediately. The menu had a nice variety of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes. We selected the sauteed shrimp with vegetables & cashews, and a vegetarian crepe (ban xeo) that had some of the best tasting tofu and bean sprouts stuffed into a large, fluffy, yet crispy egg omelet! Lettuce, mint and a dipping sauce accompanied it. A side of steamed rice came with our food. Everything was very tasty! The portions were adequate and satisfying. The prices are a bit higher than some other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to, but not a big deal as long as the food is good! Our waiter was nice, on the ball and helpful in assisting us with questions about our selections. Even though the restaurant was pretty empty for dinner, there were several patrons who stopped by to pick up "to go" food. As we ate, we were trying to remember what this restaurant was called way back when. Then my boyfriend exclaimed "Sambos!" Boy was that a long time ago! I liked eating here and hope to return again soon to try more of their dishes.

Again #10 soup was great, but the avocado shake was bad! If you have to order a drink I would suggest the jackfruit shake. Oh, do not try their fried banana either because it was too oily and not good! The house special beef salad is also good.

Lunch special - lemongrass chicken (a little too much green & reg onion), beef slaw appetizer salad delightful, soup with Chinese greens was so flavorful. The customer service was great! I can tell that they have loyal customers because they seemed very familiar with folks. Very fast service and good food at good price.

The food here is decent. A notch above Hoa Viet Pho Bac but the you pay for the difference. The staff is maybe worse though, which is strange. It seems to be in a strange limbo between good Vietnamese food vs good prices. It doesn't quite satisfy either criteria because it's riding the fence. Just down the street, there's Mint's which makes coming here a strange thing to do... Anyway. The food was 3-4 stars. I think it really depends on what you get. The service here was horrible. Had to wait 10 mins for the guy to come over and take our order. Just gave us that dirty look Asians give other Asians.... -_- The waiters don't really do the look around like they should and you have to catch their eye to get some water even though there is only one other table of customers during lunch time...

First off, I fell in love with Vietnamese food almost 7years ago. From Pho to the culture's sandwhiches. I've been to various place, enjoyed someplaces, and never returned to others. But Andy's, their the bomb! From the serivce, to the cleanliness of their place, to the food! Deelicious. I've had their grilled chicken, beef, and shrimp over the rice, Pho Chicken and Beef. DEElicious! Fresh and Flavorful! Please Please Please Go Try em! You will not be disappointed.

I give this place an A-OK because the decor is pretty, but the price is too much for too little with an OK stomache walking out the door. Don't try their Chinese dishes, not their speciality at all.Doesnt seem authentic. The pho is good but little meat and a bit too salty for my taste. I came on here to read the reviews and thought i should try it out. After reading the reviews i was disappointed in the food, if i didn't read the reviews i wouldn't be TOO disappointed. Driving down more of east of rancho cordova was another Vietnamese restaurant called Sunny Restaurant, Bigger portions for a good price and great taste. Although the decor isnt extrememly modern. If you want to impress your girl go to Andys for the decor. If you want a family dinner go to Sunny Restaurant.

My friends and I went out to eat there after a long night of drinking and it just hit the spot. The noodles are great, we got a good portion for what we paid for. We order to go at least once a month. I don't think you could put a price on good food. BUT the eggrolls are expensive!!!

Eat here at the Folsom location, for some reason going to the Andy Nguyen on Broadway in Landpark will guarantee an early death. This is one of the better VN restaurants in Sac County. The Andy Nguyen on Broadway in the landpark area. Sucks. Service is bad, food is worse or is that the other way around. Andy Nguyen's II on Folsom blvd. has great food and great service if you talk to the lady that runs the place. She probably is the owner. Oh yes here is the best part of eating at Andy Nguyen's II on Folsom Blvd, Rancho Cordova. The food is very good and reasonably priced. In fact it probably is a third of the cost of Lemongrass and better tasting than the 'grass. This is the place to go for VN food.

I went to Andy Nguyen's yesterday. I have been there several times before and enjoyed my dishes, although I thought it was a little pricey for Vietnamese food. I ordered pho a time before and liked it, though I felt like it wasn't their specialty. I was disappointed because they didn't have any lime and I love lime with my pho. Lemon gives it a total different taste. The first time I had it, it was not bad and I felt that I wouldn't mind having it again. Since I was craving pho, I decided to go there last night. This time, it didn't taste quite the same and I couldn't continue to eat it (I am a picky eater so if something doesn't taste good to me, I will stop eating it). The servers noticed this and went above and beyond to ask why I didn't like it and they offered to make me another dish. Their service was beyond exceptional which is why I am rating them 5 stars. Like I mentioned earlier, I have been there before and enjoyed the other dishes I had so I am not going to minus one star on the food because it could have just been a one time case. I would definitely go back because of their service. The service they provided is not typical of a Vietnamese or Asian restaurant because the service I normally get from a place like Hoa Viet is rude and not caring about their customers. I would go to Andy Nguyen's over Hoa Viet any day and pay a little more for the better service. Also, I feel like the restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is very welcoming.

Ate here a while ago with a friend, my friend being vietnamese knows all the good spots, loved that! The food was very good. The staff is very attentive. The restaurant was very clean looked like a old denny's or something. The prices are very reasonable would definitely go back if I'm in the area.

Not living up to the hype. Expensive, slow, and average food. Inside looks like a cool diner or something, but service is inattentive and not what a small non-chain business should be about. Average food at above market prices.

I purchased a Groupon for this restaurant (or was it a living social deal?) and headed off here with my boyfriend and friend. We were a bit hesitant at first as the location and outdoor decor is not the best. If you didn't know about the restaurant, chances are you probably wouldn't walk into it voluntarily. Regardless, we had a deal and we headed off inside. Once you enter the actual restaurant, it's a completely different world. The decor inside is exotic and nice. They sat us very quickly and after a little bit of time we ordered, and then the food came out pretty quickly after that. The food is great (the vegetarian burger is absolutely amazing - a must for everyone, even if you're not vegetarian.) and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. They have a really great coconut milk based shake which was delectable. Also a must for anyone with a sweeter tooth. The overall experience was great. I'd give it five stars, but the location and outdoor decor docked it a bit lower. Other than great, I would (and probably have) recommended this restaurant to others.

    I was craving pho (yet again) the other night and took my grandma and dad along for the ride! Neither of them have had much Vietnamese food so it was a pretty new experience for both of them. We started with shrimp spring rolls and then my grandma and I both opted for the seafood pho (crabmeat, calamari and shrimp) while dad chose the lemongrass chicken. The spring rolls were good, though a bit different than the ones I'm typically used to. I thought the pho was exceptional though. Very flavorful and more than enough to fill you up! We actually ended up taking quite a bit home with us. Since I don't eat meat, I couldn't actually *try* my dad's lemongrass chicken but he seemed more than satisfied with his plate. The service was great -- attentive but not overly -- and the price was right. We walked out with three entrees, an appetizer and an iced tea for $35! Next time I'm craving pho and am in the area, this will definitely be a go-to. {If I could give this place 3.5 stars, I would!}

After hearing all the raves about Andy Nguyen's I grabbed a Groupon and went to experience. This location looks like it used to be a diner inside- still has the bar & barstools. It was very quiet- only two other tables. The service was great- the man waiting on us was very quiet and quick. We never had an empty drink glass and the food came quickly and hot. I had heard spectacular things about the food and while it was good I didn't think it was worth the hype. I had the cold vermicelli bowl with imperial rolls and charbroiled pork. My husband had the charbroiled pork and shrimp over rice. The pork was the best thing about the dinner- it was very flavorful and makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I was not a fan of the imperial rolls, but had some bbq beef spring rolls and thought they were great. Definitely worth trying once, but the location is not very convenient for me and while the food is good, I think I could probably replicate it pretty well at home if I was in the mood.

Excellent food at reasonable prices! They have brown rice available on request, which is very nice for those that want healthy cuisine. Try the shrimp and calamari salad. It is most excellent, and an unusual, delicious dish. It is not a fancy place, but very nice and clean. The staff are very friendly, and the food is served promptly and steaming hot. I have only been there for lunch, as it is close to work. They do serve wine and beer.

By far the best fried egg rolls (imperial rolls) in Sacramento area. I've tried numerous Vietnamese restaurants and haven't found one comparable to this place. (KT Noodle in Rocklin is excellent as well.) I normally order the Lemongrass chicken or Pork chop rice dish and it never disappoints. The restaurant is clean and servers are friendly. To quote the Terminator, "I'll be Back".

This is my second review of Andy Nguyen's and its still fabulous!! I had lunch there the first time around, and this time my husband & I had it for dinner. We managed to stick to a low carb healthy & delicious meal which is hard to find! Highly recommend it!

I've been going to Andy Nguyen's since I was very young (over 20 years now). My family has had many-o-birthday and other celebratory meals here over the years. The environment is comfortable, clean and calm. They usually play soft relaxing music in the background. Great place to eat and visit with your family or a close friend. You will not be rushed by the staff here. My two favorite menu items are the Imperial egg rolls and the Chicken lemon grass. Their white rice is perfect. Their sauces are absolutely amazing (where when you finish your dish, you would want to pour the remaining sauce from the dish on the rice and take it home). They have great soups, beef and broccoli, meats and veggies with amazing sauté sauce, and much more. The prices are a little higher than you may see at other Vietnamese restaurants however Andy's is not like your standard Vietnamese restaurant.

The food is amazing, but don't go here if you have anything else to do after your meal plans or if you are on a time limit/lunch break. They take FOREVER to bring out meals.

This place opens at 10 a.m. which is nice if you want to get an early start on lunch. Ate there today for lunch - had the pork-shrimp hotpot. It was delicious except for one thing - WAY too salty. I mentioned that to the waitress and she said to ask for less salt next time. I will, when I eat there next, but it's certainly easier to cook with less salt and let people add their own, than to put in too much in the first place. I'm a pretty big salt-eater, don't have high blood pressure, so don't stint myself in that department but this was way too much salt to be tasty. Or rather, the food WAS very tasty, just that the salt detracted a lot. Is there something about Vietnamese cuisine that makes them use more salt than anyone else, or is it just the cook here? My dining companion had a crepe with vegetables in it. It looked good and she really enjoyed it. Having options of white, brown, or fried rice are a nice touch. The food looks good. And tastes good except for the salt. Their website: AndyNguyenRestaurant2.com

I cannot possibly say enough good things about Andy Nguyens. Such good food. I have been getting pho there for 4 years and it's simply the best there is. The broth is unbeatable. The meat is fresh and raw, beautiful cuts of melt in your mouth goodness. The staff is so sweet. I am proud to give them my money, they earn every penny.

Delicious vegetarian fare. We were in Sac for a couple days and being a vegetarian from a wholly un-vegetarian friendly area, we wanted to find something special and out of the ordinary. We found exactly what we were looking for here. We had three upset children with us and didn't want to upset anyone's quiet dining experience, so I can't speak to the service or the quality of the inside of the building, just the food. Let's just jump in: The Dragon Clay Pot was delicious, cooked well in a shitake sauce that pulled all the flavors of the multiple veggies together. It was a little watery but we expected this and got a side of brown rice to soak the excess up. The Dharma Seed was a little too much on the sweet side, with the coconut sauce. Didn't take away from the taste of the meal, just not quite what I like. I'm very big on "savory" foods, sweet has no place for me in a meal, it belongs in desert :P . Next the sides. Treasure Rolls were ok, nothing special. I never really care for rolls in rice paper. It seems too common for restaurants to over do the spices and herbs to combat the blandness of the rice paper, and this was no exception. Crispy Lotus Rolls, were amazing. Well fried, but not overly oily. Inside everything was cooked and not mushy, which happens to rolls alot. Organic Maha Mushrooms, were to die for. We found ourselves fighting for position next to them on our table at the hotel. They didn't last too long... Tempura fries, what I had were good. We mostly got them to appease the three year old, and he ate most of them, which is uncommon for one of the pickiest eaters on the planet. So I think that speaks for itself. Altogether a great food experience that we will be recreating the next time we're in town.

My husband and I have been coming here for many years since 1998. Their food is the best and their pho broth is the tastiest of all pho places. They also have the best grilled pork and shrimp over soft rice noodles. They chop their peanuts instead of giving you the whole peanut. The beef brochette is very good too. Mostly everything you order here is yummy.

Doesn't look like much (crazy dated decor, slightly worn), but food is good. My vietnamese friends say to avoid the 'chinese' dishes as they are nothing special (but I've enjoyed these, too). Still, the authentic vietnamese--the noodle soups and char-broiled meat with rice noodle dishes--are terrific. And the spring rolls--maybe the best I've had in Sacramento.

Have been coming here for years. Close to work so crave it at least once a week. Terrific service, always friendly. Food is wonderful. I wish the AN's on Broadway near my home was not strictly vegetarian, only so I could have it more often.

Absolutely love the seafood soup!!!! I cannot explain the taste other than pure heavenly goodness. I've been eating the same Seafood Soup for 19 years. Each time I'm there I fall back in love. Imagine a tasty broth, screw tasty- it's a punch of pure goodness to the taste buds, a heaping mound of pho noodles, shrimp and calamari served with bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeño slices and lemon wedges on the side. Please, don't underestimate the bowl. It looks like many other pho soups. But it's not!!!!!!! The halo of this delicious angelic soup is invisible but I promise at the first sip, you'll fall hard. This is a rancho Cordova hidden jem. Rush there now! Grab yourself a bowl! Your Monday can and will get better!!! Remember Seafood Soup!!!!

I love eating here when I am sick because eating a good bowl of Pho always makes me feel better. I swear that this place is a cure all for all colds. I only say that because I found this place after being sick for a month over three years ago. I ate one bowl of Pho and my respiratory infection went away the next day. I have been a customer ever scene. The area around the place is a little sketchy. I did live there for a year and there were some interesting events and sights that would happen around that neighborhood. But once you get inside of the place, you find a great environment. The actual restaurant is well kept and clean. You are always greeted at the door with a smile and they do seat you. It is a warm inviting atmosphere and the servers have never seemed to be too busy. This time when I went, I wanted to try my usual and some lemon grass chicken too. There were pictures of it on the menu but I was curious still. The server was delivering some to the table next to me so I was able to see the chicken close up and it looked/smelled delicious. I had a chance to place my order and soon it came out. The server did talk to us a little and made sure we had everything we needed. The Pho was super fresh as always, and the lemongrass chicken tasted amazing. I was glad to have found another dish. Once again my cold is gone thanks to the wonderful meal I had at Andy Nguyen's.

We came here lastnight for a last minute dinner . The doors were locked and we thought we weren't going to be able to dine in considering it was 20 minutes before closing and they've already locked the doors. The lady taking orders / serving kindly let us in and told us it would be ok to dine in . I had originally thought this place only served vegetarian meals but looking through the menu assured me that they didn't. In fact, it seemed like there were more meat dishes than vegetarian dishes . Neither of us really had a craving for asian food but we opted for shrimp fried rice to share. The bf had a viet iced coffee while I had their Thai tea. Our drinks came out first and I immediately could tell that they use bottled Thai tea. My boyfriend said that the coffee was on point but needed milk. They gave him powdered coffee mate since they had no milk. It tasted good even though the powder made it a bit gritty . The fried rice was decent . It reminded me of Filipino garlic rice with an extra amount of garlic. It was just too much for me. The shrimp they used was very tiny cut up pieces which made it seem like they were being stingy with their shrimp . It looked like 3 small whole pieces of shrimp cut up in little tiny pieces . 3 stars for the good service and for allowing us to enter the restaurant prior to closing . Probably won't be returning since we're hardly in the area.

Very glad I brought the family here for dinner. My twin 10 year olds have never had Vietnamese noodles or food of any kind. We had pho, calamari, baked salted shrimp. Very very goood. My kids finished the large pho servings too. Would highly recommend.

Got two lunch specials broccoli beef and beef curry with sides of flavorless steamed vegetables. They messed up the orders we made and I couldn't even finish the food bc I lost my appetite by that point.

Having lived in Sacramento for years and years, I have heard about Andy Nguyen's a million times but never actually tried it. For my vegan mother's birthday, we decided to finally check it out. I have to say, being a big fan of Vietnamese food, I was disappointed. I'm giving two stars for the food but an extra star for the great service. The restaurant is big and was empty when we arrived. We were greeted promptly by a very friendly man who had already taken it upon himself to set our table when he saw us get out of the car- so awesome. We looked over the menu and he asked if we had any questions he could answer. I cannot stress enough how friendly and welcoming he was! We ordered a few dishes and made small talk while our food was being cooked. When it arrived, we were all pretty excited. However, the excitement was short-lived. I found most of the food to be lacking in flavor and also the temps were off. A few dishes we knew would be cold, but even the ones which should have been hot came out only lukewarm. I ordered noodles with a coconut sauce and beef, and it was only ok. I didn't finish it and wasn't really interested in the leftovers. Two of our three kids really enjoyed their meals, but my daughter did not care for the shredded pork. When I tried it, I could see why. It was dry and it seemed to be coated with something- ground peanuts maybe? I had my sister try it and she agreed that it seemed to have a fine dust coating. I asked the helpful man, but he insisted that it is boiled and then shredded, giving it that texture. Hmm, okay, but either way, it was dry and weird. I didn't make my daughter eat it. Overall we were split- my mother and two of the kids loved their dishes, but my sister, my daughter, and I were all a little disappointed. I've heard SO MANY great things about this place, and they have a million great reviews. I just expected MORE; more flavor, more heat, more WOW. That being said, I'm going to do something I rarely do when I have a less-than-desirable experience: I'm going to try Andy Nguyen's again. No way this place has been around this long with such a great reputation if it can't do better than this. Maybe it was an off day, maybe we just picked the wrong dishes... whatever it was, I'm going to give them another chance. Stay tuned for an update and hopefully more stars! Update: **So it was brought to my attention that the weird coating on the pork is traditional and exactly how it should be done, not something I should knock Andy Nguyen's for. My apologies on that bit- I didn't care for it and have never had that before, but I won't hold it against them. I just won't order it again. Thanks for the info, fellow Yelper!**

Imagine yourself walking into a Vietnamese restaurant and realizing that it looks like a diner that was last updated in the 1950's. Andy Nguyen's restaurant literally looks like an old dingy, outdated diner from the 50's ... but don't let that fool you into thinking the food isn't up to par. They have a full vietnamese menu ranging from your pho, rice dishes, noodles etc. I walked in and the server/host was really nice - also spoke fluent English without an accent which made ordering very easy. He was polite and attentive. Food came out pretty fast. There was no one there on a Wednesday afternoon at 3:30pm though. I ordered a rice dish with grilled chicken and egg rolls (~$8). Great Deal! It came with the best tasting brown rice ever, deliciously flavored grilled chicken, crunchy egg roll + delightful sweet fish sauce. I devoured the entire plate and was a very happy camper. It wasn't ridiculously high in MSG because I would have felt horrible the next day! Overall, I'd come here again for the food. Yes, the parking lot and restaurant look dismal, but that just makes this place a more wonderful 'hole in the wall.'

I was wandering around the Sacromento area, far from home, confused and wanting comfort food for my stomach which was going crazy from traveling and weird food. When I look for comfort food, one of the cuisines I almost always resort to is Vietnamese. Actually, when looking for food of any sort, I often resort to Vietnamese! Yelp led me here. If it wasn't for Yelp, I might have backed out of Andy Nguyen's because the parking lot definitely looked shady and the restaurant was empty. Whatever. I sat down and a nice lady whom was the manager (and possibly owner) came and brought me tea and a menu. I liked that there was a wide spread of vegetarian options but there's no vegetarian pho, which was disappointing since I wanted comfort food. I decided to go with another classic Vietnamese comfort dish: claypot fish with brown rice. The food came pretty quickly and it was the perfect sized portion for one. The claypot fish was savory, sweet with a little kick, rich and warmed me all up inside. I was pretty happy with it. At $10.95 for the portion, the price was pretty reasonable but you do have to pay extra for rice and tea. I am probably not too likely to wander over to Rancho Cordova again but all in all, I was happy with my meal. If you're looking for Vietnamese food in the area, this is pleasing to the stomach. 3.5 stars

This is authentic food, none of that super Americanized junk. We came here at 8pm since we did not know they closed at 8:30. They were happy to let us order and do take out. Thank you! The food was hot, flavorful, authentic, and fresh. Lots of veggies, fluffy fresh rice, and flavorful protein. We had the rice plate with chicken and then one with shrimp and beef. Next time I want to try their egg or rice noodle soup!

The service level at this restaurant is excellent! 5 stars!!! The employees are courteous, friendly and attentive. For food, the overall rating is 4 stars for what I have tried so far. Vegetarian Rolls (5 stars) Tofu Rolls (5 stars) Mixed Vegetables and Tofu over Crispy Noodles (5 stars) Sautéed Shredded Vegetables over Rice Noodles (4 stars) Sautéed Tofu with Lemongrass (3 stars) Small Fried Rice (1 star) The dishes that need improvement would be the Sautéed Tofu with Lemongrass and Fried Rice. The Sautéed Tofu with Lemongrass was flavorful, but the lemongrass was not prominent because I could not detect the flavor or aroma of the lemongrass. The Small Fried Rice I ordered was bland and not worth the $2.95 they charge for it.

Each time I've visited here, the service has been extremely great & the food amazing! The staff is very kind, efficient & helpful! The food delivery is fast, very tasty & very good portions. I always leave with leftovers. I definitely recommend this little hidden gem!!

The Imperial rolls are SO yummy. We also had spicy prawns, curry beef and ginger chicken. It was all great. I love that the food wasn't overly sweet which is so common these days. We also didn't have to ask for chopsticks (or forks if we were so inclined). I hate when you have to ask. Real chopsticks too, not to go wooden versions. The place is clean and the service was prompt. Nice people. Good food. We will come back when we are in the area.

I've lived a few blocks away from this place for 7 years now, and never went because the area around the restaurant looked janky. And also, because I haven't experience very much Vietnamese foods, I've always just went to Pho Bac Hoa Viet and ordered the #53 every time. So I finally decided to check out Andy Nguyen's. After looking at many pictures online I chose the sauteed chicken with lemongrass on rice noodles, along with the emperial rolls. Placed the order for pick-up, it was ready in 10 minutes. The emperial rolls, though not cut exactly like in the picture were quite tasty. The noodle dish was awesome, served with the 'fish' sauce typical at Vietnamese restaurants. I'm not a big fan of the cucumber, too much is overwhelming to me, so I pick most of it out. I'm definitely going to put this restaurant into the mix, and try some of their other dishes as well.
